I think originality means being able to be creative independently without any influences. I would define it as the ability to be special, creative and not the same as anybody else.
Shynola is clearly upset that they have been accused of something. So how do they reply? Shynola is clearly upset due to being accused of plagiarism which is a default emotion when you don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. Their reply to this accusation was respectful and included all the inspiration points they had while creating this music video, which in my opinion is wrong as no artist should have to justify their creation. The language they use is formal and the point they are trying to get across is conveyed well. The tone of this reply is honest and conversational. Throughout this statement, Shynola has made justifications to their actions and provided many good reasons as to why things went the way they did with the music video. They also went on to explain that the artists were had no involvement besides liking the idea, excluding people who have been involved in the accusation but took no part in the notion of it all, is a mature attitude. The response to Owen Trevor is very direct with a slight sense of tension but personally, I don’t perceive any angry tones or language throughout the statement. In my opinion, their response is above and beyond what they should’ve replied. They didn’t have to justify their ideas nor did they have to explain where their ideas originated from. Overall, I believe their opinion is conveyed well and their feelings are well explained towards the matter.
Personally, I think this whole situation was ridiculous and shouldn’t have occurred. If artists are going to put out plagiarism claims over music videos that have slight similarities then it’ll never end. Next thing you know artists will be throwing out plagiarism claims about other artist using the same location as them. I think the claim is very immature but believe Shynola’s response was put across in the best way possible.
