To begin the production process of my music video, I decided to grab a Canon 800D, go to Plymbridge woods and get some filler footage. By doing this it allowed me to cut up peoples interviews by adding small snippets of these shots in between. This stops the audience from getting bored and fed up of watching someone ramble on. The shots just consisted of nature (streams, leaves, trees etc.).
I put some of these shots in the beginning for the title sequence and to display some information about what the cult in my mockumentary was about. I did this so it helped the audience understand what is was about and what was going on.
This is a screenshot from the title sequence –

Shots that display information about the cult –

Sadly, I couldn’t make these shots as long as I wanted too as my clips weren’t long enough. I didn’t add other clips to extend this as I didn’t want the intro to be too long. This means the video has to be paused to read the information which I really didn’t want to happen but I couldn’t avoid it. I played around with the editing for a while attempting to change certain bits in able to make the two clips above readable without it making the shots behind it seem too long but it got to the point where if I kept playing around with it, it wouldn’t look right which was really upsetting.
To continue with the production side, I filmed my dad and step mum, Karen, first who play Jerry and Julie. These shots were the easiest to film due to spending a lot of time with them. This then pushed forward my editing and helped me get started on that early.

In premiere pro, I added title cards during the first interview with all of the characters to introduce them and add some information about when they joined the cult. The light blue snippet a bit further down from the pink one is a piece of footage I used to break up the interview. The reason I did this was so the audience doesn’t get bored of Jerry talking and adds different dimensions to the clip. I did the same to the other interviews for the exact same reason.
After filming the role of Jerry, I filmed Julies part. This was set in the exact same background as Jerrys interview as they’re married and live together so it just made more sense. I decided to set up the interviews like this so It gave an eerie vibe to them both and presented the idea that something more then just a cult was going on, hence the stick mobile. The wallpaper however was a complete coincidence as thats just on one of the walls in our bedrooms. I didn’t want to film all the other characters in the same place as it would make it all look very repetitive.
