Production 3: A secret character

To finish off the production of my mockumentary, I decided to add a last minute character as I didn’t get enough time to film all the people I wanted. The character I went with added a plot twist to my theme and I really enjoyed filming and editing her part. The character I added was an ex-cult member. Thankfully, my sister played this part and did a good job. Within the short film, her identity isn’t known, thats why I didn’t give her a title card etc. Before her part within the mockumentary, I added a small bit of information about the character and why their identity wasn’t known. This was probably the hardest interview I had to film because all I did was laugh. Whether it was the way she was dressed or just how she played the roll, I have no idea but all it did was get to me.

This probably sounds stupid but this was the hardest scene to apply lighting too. Only because of the sunglasses which kept reflecting the light or what was in front of her. You can slightly see the glare of a light in the sunglasses but not as much as before hand. Picking this character out of thin air and adding it to my mockumentary was a very quick decision but thankfully my sister wanted to help. Due to the whole keeping the character anonymous, I added a voice changer to the audio. This is why the audio below the clips is green. Sadly, I didn’t do this on the actual footage so I had to line it all up correctly with the movements of the balaclava, to say the least, this took me forever. I even colour graded these scenes due to the fact that I just wanted to change it up a bit more. There isn’t a massive difference to the clips but in my eyes it changed the scene and gave off a different vibe.
